Impact Makers Wins 2 B Corp Champion Awards!

Impact Makers’ CEO Michael Pirron was honored with two awards at the recent B Corp Champions Retreat. The invitation-only event celebrates the past year of action and results in the B Corporation community. This year’s event, the third annual, was held October 25-27, 2011 in Philadelphia.

‘I’m Just a Bill’ Award

Impact Makers received the ‘I’m Just a Bill’ award for helping benefit corporation legislation move forward in Virginia. Benefit corporations are stock corporations that choose to incorporate with the purpose of creating a positive impact on society and the environment, in addition to generating profits. Virginia’s law went into effect on July 1, 2011. Today, six states have benefit corporation legislation.

I Have a Dream Award

Michael also received the I Have a Dream award for his efforts in recruiting additional B Corp members. There are currently 468 B Corporations, representing $2.24 Billion in revenue across 60 industries. Virginia is home to 11 B Corps.
