Karen Coleman Joins Impact Makers Board

Impact Makers is pleased to welcome a new member to our Board of Directors: Karen Coleman of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Ms. Coleman was named Interim Associate Dean of External Affairs for the VCU School of Business and Executive Director of the VCU School of Business Foundation  in 2011. She had previously worked as Clinical Faculty in the VCU Finance, Insurance and Real Estate Department.  Prior to VCU, she worked in the investments industry, beginning on Wall Street at J.P. Morgan in 1984.  She moved to Richmond in 1990 to join Lowe, Brockenbrough & Tattersall as a Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager, a position she held for 7 years before “retiring” temporarily to care for her three children.  More recently, she was a partner at Private Advisors, Inc, a manager of alternative investment funds and at Strategic Balance, LLC, a long short equity partnership.   Dean Coleman holds a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University and an MBA from Stanford University.
