Richmond Times-Dispatch: For B Corporations, mission carries a purpose

On Sunday, April 19, 2015 the Richmond Times-Dispatch covered local B Corps in ‘For B Corporations, mission carries a purpose.’

B Corporations are companies that have social and environmental missions beyond profits. A number of Richmond-area companies have adopted the business structure and been certified as B Corps.

“It is a wonderful re-thinking of the model for doing business that really fits who we want to be,” said Beth Gillispie, co-owner of Acorn Sign Graphics, a Richmond-based maker of custom signs and a B Corp with an environmental mission. The reporter John Reid Blackwell also interviewed Impact Makers’ CEO and Founder Michael Pirron.

The article includes Impact Makers, Acorn Sign Graphics, Natural Organic Process Enterprises or NOPE, Main Street Benefits, MAXX Potential, Greater Richmond Grid, TMI Consulting, River City Comprehensive Counseling Services, Impact Insurance Agency and Virginia Community Capital.
