Impact Makers’ Rodney Willett speaking to a social entrepreneurship class at Virginia Tech

Impact Makers’ Rodney Willett discussed the company and its social impact with a social entrepreneurship class at Virginia Tech on March 30, 2016. The class is offered through the university’s new Social Entrepreneurship Department of Management and led by adjunct professor Lisa Fournier, who also owns a benefit corporation. The class is composed of Virginia Tech upper classman and visiting students from The Telecom in France.

In addition to describing Impact Makers and its innovative approach to solving social issues through its funding and pro bono support of charity partners, Rodney explained the uniqueness and significance of the gifting of the company to two nonprofits this past year. He then responded to a number of questions from the students regarding the prevalence of B Corporations and the options available to social entrepreneurs choosing between forming a for-profit benefit corporation or a nonprofit organization.
