On May 9, 2012 RichTech held their 17thAnnual Technology Stars Gala with a sold out crowd of more than 600 people in attendance. At the event, Impact Maker’s client the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) received the Technology Innovation Developer Award. DHCD’s win represents the first time a state agency has won a RichTech award.
The Technology Innovation Developer Award recognizes the company or organization whose development of new technology applications and/or systems creates new processes, methodologies, and/or services for their own or others’ benefit.
DHCD was recognized for the recent development and implementation of a customer portal that integrates multiple business processes for their nonprofit and local government clients into a single, online process. Impact Makers has been involved since the project’s inception, first leading the business process mapping and reengineering efforts and then overseeing the creation of system requirements and the actual development efforts. This project is worthy of distinction for many reasons including the fact that DHCD used a small internal development team to build the portal. Impact Makers managed project delivery and oversaw internal resources. We also introduced Kanban and Scrum methodologies to the agency team, making DHCD the first state agency to apply this approach.
